Abstract
Research on dislocation morphology of TiC particle reinforced titanium matrix composite has been made in this paper. The results indicate that the dislocation density for the composite is much higher than that of monolithic alloys. And the high dislocation density is attributed to several factors, e.g. distorted strain dislocation in the interface, different heat expansion coefficient between the TiC particle and the matrix, degration reaction of C. After TiC particle and the matrix are deformed unevenly, dislocation source is formed, the dislocation density for the matrix is increased and thus the composite will be reinforced. Qwing to the fact that the high density dislocation in the composite will increase the possibility of the deposition of the interstial atoms on the dislocation, Co ttrell atomphere is formed, which hinders moving of the dislocation below 600'C. The main reinforcement for the composite above 600'C is attributed to dynamic reinforcing. The best way for dynamic reinforcing is to add TiC particles to the composite.
