Abstract

Antenna arrays are typically accompanied by perfect electric conductor (PEC) grounds, to improving the computing efficiency, a Domain Green's function method (DGFM) with half-space Green's function, termed half-space DGFM (HDGFM) is introduced in this letter. By using half-space Green's function, the HDGFM can account for the effects of the ground without the need to model and compute the actual ground plane, which can accelerate the computation significantly. Furthermore, traditional DGFM is not suitable for computing sparse antenna arrays with PEC ground due to potential overlap issues arising from the different ground planes for each antenna element. The HDGFM can overcome this issue. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, two types of antenna arrays with PEC grounds are computed. The results demonstrate good agreement with those obtained using the full method of moments approach, confirming the efficacy of the proposed method.
