Abstract

A method of designing wideband constant beamwidth beam former (WCBB) with non-uniform linear arrays is proposed in this paper. It combines the advantages of Doles' asymptotic theory design method of broadband nonuniform linear array and the optimization method. A design example of broadband non-uniform linear array was given. The computer simulation results show that, the method can avoid the appearance of grating lobes using less sensors, and obtain low sidelobe WCBB at the same time. Compared to Doles' design method, the method can achieve the desired beampattern specifications more expediently.
