Abstract

The recycled waste suit-bags (main ingredient EVA) and waste crumb rubber, instead of the ordinary polymeric modifiers, were used to carry out combined modification to the common road asphalt. Results indicate that the softening point and the extension of 5°C of asphalt increases after modification. While the penetration decreases. That is to say, the combined modification enhances the comprehensive performance of asphalt. And the FT-IR analysis indicates that the modified process belongs to a physical effect. The high and low temperature performance of the modified asphalt were studied by the microscopic structure analysis, indicating that the network structure formed by the modifiers and thus caused shear yield are the main reasons for the modified effect.
