Abstract

Due to the advantage of auto-centering and good tooth contact, the floating supported narrowband friction plates with large diameter are widely used in the multi-disk clutch systems of special vehicles. However, under complex torsional vibration environment, tooth cracks may develop and affect the safety of the vehicle. In this paper, a multi-body dynamic model of a hub and a friction plate is established to investigate the influence of tooth clearance, heat treatment, and modulus on the impact force and stress distribution. The results show that the tooth root is subjected to a large tensile stress and is susceptible to cracking.
