Abstract
Firstly, a method of three segment modifications for pinion profile was presented. New cutter surface equation was deduced after the shape of cutter-edge being changed and lines being substituted with three segment parabolas. Secondly, the mathematic programming model for tooth contact of double helical gears was built with non-linear programming method, which was based on finite element flexibility matrix, and the particular restriction conditions of double helical gears were imported. Loaded transmission error in a meshing period was obtained by solving the mathematic programming in a modification of the simplex method. Finally, an example that compared the effects of experiment with calculation was provided.
