Abstract
Bamboo-shaped carbon nanofibers were obtained in pyrolytic carbon fabricated by thermal gradient chemical vapor deposition and their micro-and nanostructure were examined by transmission and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that, bamboo-shaped nanofibers with diameters from a few tens to about 250 nm were distributed homogeneously in the pyrolytic carbon. The nanofibers could be pulled out of the pyrolytic carbon when they were fractured.
