Application of fuzzy cognitive maps in fuel management of airborne warning and control systems

Abstract

To improve the fuel management capacity of airborne warning and control system (AWACS), a new method that uses fuzzy cognitive map (FCM) to describe and analysis the information in the fuel management of AWACS is presented. Fuel consumption models of the interception and return task are put forward firstly. And then, a fuel management model based on FCM is built. From the above model, a decision-making method based on if/then rules is extracted. Simulation results show preliminarily that the decision-making method is reasonable and effective, also demonstrate that using FCM for fuel management of AWACS is feasible.
