Abstract

In this paper the anomalous optical responses and structural variations of Fe2O3 nanoparticles coated with a layer of stearates are correlated. These variations are originated from the quantum confined polaronic state evidenced by spectroscopic characteristics, which is the interplay of the quantum size effect, interfacial effect introduced by stearates and localized d electrons in the Fe2O3 nanoparticles.
