Abstract

By using VC++, an aircraft geometric description software (AGDS) had been developed for vulnerability assessment in China. The basic methodology for components geometric description is based upon 'shot line scanning method'. The aircraft presented area is calculated through summing the forward directed projected areas of aircraft finite patches. Using AGDS, we give the geometric description of a third generation combat aircraft for the bottom threat aspect. AGDS provides a convenient tool for aircraft survivability/vulnerability analyzers and has the following advantages. (1) The input and output data files are organized considering the Chinese aircraft vulnerability assessment methodology, and thus the data can be shared between lethality and vulnerability assessment. (2) Compared with U.S. geometric description software FASTGEN 4.0, it has multiple input formats. Namely, the input data can be written by hand or read from existing finite element geometric or analytic model, which can eliminate much of the repetitive work, especially in the CAD/CAM environment. (3) Compared with existing Chinese geometric description software, it can deal with any multi-overlap among components. (4) It can be used in other targets geometric description such as satellite, missile, ship, armored car, etc.
