Abstract

Ti-7333 is a recently developed near-β titanium alloy with promising mechanical properties for a number of structural applications. The aging response and properties of this alloy have been investigated using optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, as well as tensile and hardness testing. The results suggest that this alloy exhibits rapid aging response, well dispersed aging precipitates and high precipitation strengthening. In addition, super-transus solution treated and aged condition results in high precipitation strengthening with low tensile ductility, while excellent combination of strength and ductility can be obtained in sub transus solution treated and aged condition.
