Abstract

Based on the situation that there is no useful way of case modification in the application of case-based reasoning in fixture design, we put forward a method of adaptive case modification for the fixture design of parts with similar structures. First, fixture case model is established by means of associated parametric modeling and top-down design. Then, relationships between fixture case model and part model are built by constructing constraints. After that, the components of the fixture case model contacting to the part model, change adaptively at first, followed by other components changing accordingly, for they are associated with each other and could be controlled layer by layer. Finally, the fixture case model is modified automatically. The results of application show that case modification can be accomplished fast, and the efficiency of fixture design improved. Copyright
