Abstract

An improved beamforming method to effectively localize the location of the sound source within an infinite duct is introduced in this paper. The beamforming results may deteriorate when frequencies approach their cut-on frequencies. To address this challenge, an improved beamforming algorithm was developed based on gradient correction of the acoustic pressure. Simulations were conducted to validate the proposed method. Numerical localization results indicate better accuracy and fewer side lobes compared to current methods.
