A broadband circularly polarized e-shaped patch antenna

Abstract

We proposed a broadband e-shaped circularly polarized (CP) patch antenna with single-point feed, and the feed point is located at the center of the antenna. The structure of this new antenna includes a ground plate and an e-shaped patch placed on a substrate. The measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is approximately 17.89% (3.47–4.15 GHz), and the measured 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW) is about 9.47% (3.63–3.99 GHz). The antenna can achieve the gain of 8.4 to 8.7 dBi within the ARBW. And at the center frequency (3.8 GHz), right-hand CP to left-hand CP isolation of the antenna can reach −33 dB.
