Abstract

In order to study the windmilling imbalanced vibration of a high bypass ratio turbofan engine, a simulated rotor-stator rubbing system with adjustable stiffness and frequency was designed. The stiffness and frequency of the casing were calculated and related tests were completed. The experimental data of the rubbing tests and whirl analysis are in good agreement with the calculation results. The study shows that the rotor-stator rubbing system designed can accomplish rotor-stator rubbing experiments with good repeatability and show clearly the characteristics of rubbing. Furthermore, through whirl analysis, the rotor-stator rubbing under windmilling imbalance can lead to the superharmonic of forward whirl and backward whirl, especially the 3/2 frequency harmonics. The results provide references to the experimental schemes and data supports for windmilling imbalance study and safety design.
