Abstract

A transient computational fluid dynamics method was used for the study on the hydrodynamic characteristics of flow around a cylinder with ridged surface structure.The results show that the ridged structures with different parameters h and different parameters θ have different effects on the flow around a cylinder,and the best parameters are h=2 mm and θ=10°.The ridged structure surface can reduce resistance of the cylinder,effectively control the periodic lift and delay the separation of boundary layer.With the increase of Reynolds number,the ridged structure surface is weakened in controlling the flowing.The best result is that the drag coefficient is reduced by 32.56% and the lift coefficient is reduced by 65.41%.Therefore,the rigid structure surface proposed in the paper has a certain reference value for controlling the damage or fatigue damage of the cylinder.
