摘要
Spliced ply with misalignment seams is a kind of non-uniform continuous composite material with mesoscopic structure. The tensile experiment is taken to obtain its strength and stiffness, then failure characteristics and strain distribution of the first fiber are observed. The results show that near the discontinuity point and affected area by adjacent layer form local high strain gradient, and fracture mode is matrix shear failure. For studying the force transmission and failure mechanism of materials, based on experiment results and material mesoscopic structure which takes matrix damage as the main failure modes to simulate mechanics behavior, corresponding 3D finite element model is established. The simulation results show that load on breakpoint is carried by matrix and when it is away from breakpoint the load still relies on fiber. The growth of strength and stiffness do not exceed 1.4% and 3.3% when the breakpoint distance L changes in the range of 3~9 mm.
