摘要

Radar cross section (RCS) is a physical quantity which can indicate the radar target to illuminate the electromagnetic wave scattering ability. In order to analyze the characteristics of radar target echo effectively, a new measuring principle of Radar Cross Section is proposed in this paper. The frequency characteristics of RCS and the fluctuation of RCS are analyzed. The λ 2 distribution and Rice distribution model of RCS are studied, along with the logarithmic normal distribution. Because the returning signal includes much interference, it is difficult to measure the target RCS precisely even if the returning signal is stronger. Simulation results show that the value of the target RCS is different when the aspect angle and operating frequency are changed. The peaks of Radar cross section appear on prow, stern and two sides, which illustrates the radar target echo is mainly caused by the specular reflection. The results also show that the simulation results is in accordance with the practical situation. The electromagnetic scattering characteristics of the real target can be reflected through the model of RCS.
