N2 - The material science basis, significance and current state of application and research synthesizing novel nano-structured engineering coating are stated. The composition, processing methods and steps of nanostructured feedstock are introduced. The technological routes, processing condition synthesizing novel nanostructured engineering coating by thermal spray technology, electrodeposition technology, and adhesion technology are summarized. Some new methods, solid state reaction by mechanical milling and liquid state reaction followed by spray drying and synthesizing nanostructured feedstock are proposed.
