abstract = "In this article, the carbonization rules of coal-tar pitch were studied under normal pressure (0.1Mpa) and different high pressure (40MPa, 80MPa, and 100MPa). It was found that, when coal-tar pitch carbonized under high pressure, there were pyrocarbon occurred during pitch's carbonizing. However, under normal carbonization pressure, there was no pyrocarbon occurred. It could be said that the high pressure was the reason of pyrocarbon occurring. The IR curves revealed that the substrate (on which pyrocarbon could deposited) had difference materials between normal and high pressure. This showed that, low molecules in pitch reacted in different ways under different carbonization situation. In this article, the reason that pyrocarbon produced was explained and the mechanism pitch carbonized under high pressure was analyzed. This work was useful to the fabrication of pitch-based carbon-carbon composites.",
