N2 - The blended-wing-body concepts were pursued in the last decades around the world to satisfy the projected demands of future green and sustainable aviation. A persistent effort of Northwestern Polytechnical University and the recent progress were summarized in the present paper. These efforts were supported by institutes and companies, including multidisciplinary design and optimization, stability and control design, propulsion and airframe integration, the noise shielding effects, cabin arrangements and egress, wind-tunnel experiments and modeling flight tests. A stable, high efficient, and safe design can be realized. However, much more work have to be done on the structure design and high-speed modeling flight test.
