N2 - Split Hopkinson bar (SHB) is widely used to determine dynamic properties of materials at high strain rates. It is well-known that in SHB theory there are several basic assumptions, such as uniform stress. Thus, design, analysis and data validation are significantly important to get enough accurate results. One-dimensional (1-D) simulation is such a basic approach for the purposes. But generally, the simulation needs deriving and programming by the theory of 1-D stress wave, which is a rather complicated process. This paper, for the first time, develops a brief method for 1-D simulation of SHB test using the software Matlab/Simulink. As an example, a SHB configuration is modeled and simulated, and the results agree well with theoretical analysis. The example shows our method has the features of visualization, modularization, concision and high-efficiency.
