摘要
The authors succeed in improving industrial quality pitch to make it serve as good-quality modified pitch without requiring high-purity chemicals and without containing any chemical that contaminates the environment. The modified pitch has a bright future in practical applications. Without employing expensive equipment such as those required by high pressure impregnation and carbonization, the carbon yield of modified pitch is as high as 70-80%. Carbon/carbon composite based on pitch matrix produced with the authors' modified pitch show improvements in properties: temperature capability increased 20-30%, strength increased 50-80%.
