abstract = "Multi-Disciplinary Optimization (MDO) has been proven useful for conceptual design of complex and coupled system. Knowledge Engineering (KE) has been used as a mean of providing initial conceptual design scheme. By combining KE and MDO, a missile conceptual design method was developed in which KE can be used to provide baseline for MDO. This method promotes more intelligent and efficient missile conceptual design than traditional {"}human-centered{"} mode. Firstly, the design flow with two phases included was described. Then, the approach how to use KE in conceptual design was presented by decomposing system design task into several disciplinary design tasks. Following that, the critical approaches about missile MDO were presented, including disciplinary modeling, system modeling and optimization solving. In the end, an Intelligent Conceptual Design Environment (lCDE) was established and the software prototype was developed.",
