摘要
The influences of trace Titanium (Ti) on the microstructures and properties of as-cast Mg-9Al alloy have been studied in this work. We found that Ti could increase the corrosion resistance of the alloy in NaCl solution. The corrosion resistance properties can be greatly improved by the addition of trace Ti into Mg-9Al cast alloy, and the elongation (δ5) of alloys also increased greatly with the pre-furnace addition of 0.12 w/% Ti. The morphology of β phase changed from semi-netted shape to short rods or even spheres due to the inhibition of Ti heterogeneous nucleation with the increase of adding Ti amount during solidification. As a result, the overall properties of as-cast Mg-9Al alloy is quite good since the grain is rapidly coarsened and the β phase was refined.
