摘要
The corrosion behavior of the multi-layer SiCf/SiC composite was investigated in pressurized, 360 °C purified water for its application as a candidate of accident tolerant fuel (ATF) cladding in pressurized water reactor (PWR). The weight change and hoop strength of specimens, the micro-morphology, phase and micro-constitution of the corrosion layers were analyzed and compared periodically in 30 days. The weight loss of samples in static water was severe and indicates a linear trend. It can be observed that the grain boundaries of the SiC dissolved preferentially and then exhibited the typical columnar structure. The corrosion products SiCxOy and SiO2 are amorphous and readily dissolved into water, which eventually lead to the mass loss of the samples.
