Friction performance of C/C composites by rapid densification with different preforms

摘要

Using the compression molding felts and carbon cloth laminate as preform respectively, C/C composites were prepared by means of rapid CVI method. The dry static friction and the dry dynamic friction performance of two kinds of materials were investigated. The effects of the structure of preforms and the test condition on the friction property were analyzed. The friction and wear mechanism of the materials was also discussed. The results show that the static friction coefficient decreases with the increase of the braking pressure. The wear property of the materials prepared by rapid CVI is excellent and the wear rate is very low. The wear rate of the C/C composites with the compression molding felts as preform was lower than that with the laminated carbon cloth as preform. Increasing the fiber content along vertical orientation (vertical friction surface) was favorable to reducing the wear rate.
