Error analysis with the traditional numerical method of the lateral jet Interaction for the supersonic flow

摘要

The steady and unsteady lateral jet interaction flow fields in supersonic cross-flows are simulated by CFD method. The traditional simplified nozzle and diverging nozzle are considered. Three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations enclosed by k-ϵ turbulence model are solved. By comparison, the calculated values give good agreement with the experimental results, which validate the numerical method. Further study shows that there are forces errors between the two nozzles in steady results. When the pressure ratio ranges from 50 to 500, the percentage errors of the total normal force are large. In unsteady simulation, results show that the shock wave and separation vortex is inside the nozzle when the pulsejet engine is starting up or shutting down. The jet flow is not isentropic and is non-uniform. The simulation with traditional simplified nozzle will cause the errors. The diverging nozzle should be used in accurately simulating the lateral jet interaction flow field.
