abstract = "The evaporation duct forms above the ocean and has an important impacts on electromagnetic wave propagation. In this paper, the electromagnetic wave propagation in horizontally inhomogeneous evaporation duct is investigated based on the advanced propagation model. Two inhomogeneous cases are investigated and compared with the homogeneous case. The result shows that path loss is higher than that in the homogeneous case when the evaporation duct height at the receiver is lower than that at the transmitter. It is also concluded that the horizontal inhomogeneity has a significant influence when the frequency of electromagnetic wave is lower than 13 GHz.",
