Electric Vehicle Charging Guidance Strategy Considering Waiting Time at Target Charging Stations

摘要

Electric vehicles (EVs) have emerged as a pivotal factor in the automotive industry due to their eco-friendly and efficient characteristics. However, the growth of EVs is impeded by inadequate charging infrastructure, resulting in extended wait times and underutilization of charging stations. This paper presents a charging guidance strategy to address the insufficient charging infrastructure for EVs while exploring the impact of interface-displayed wait times on charging station utilization and driver wait times. The proposed approach takes into consideration four factors that influence users' selection of charging stations, with the objective of enhancing user satisfaction and minimizing charging resource wastage caused by low utilization rates. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is validated using location and utilization data from charging stations in Shenzhen, demonstrating its efficacy in reducing average waiting times for EV users and improving the utilization of underutilized charging stations.
