摘要

This letter presents a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system with vector arrays composed of spatially spread dipole quints. A new method for estimating the azimuth-elevation angles and polarization parameters is devised. Particularly, we first divide both the transmit and receive arrays into five subarrays, then estimate the directions-of-departure (DODs) and directions-of-arrival (DOAs) by making use of the shift invariant properties. Compared to the existing methods, the proposed one does not need to estimate the steering vector of each source. Moreover, it can resolve the targets without the priori knowledge of the dipole quints' spacing. Unlike the MIMO systems with colocated electromagnetic vector sensors, the proposed one can make better use of the spatial diversity of antennas, refine the direction-finding accuracy with fewer antennas, as well as reduce the mutual coupling effect and hardware cost. Simulations are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
