A discussion on diesel engine lubricant oil for future PM emission regulation, presented at the 11th Annual Fuels and Lubes Asia Conference (Beijing, China 3/15-18/2005), covers oil consumption resources; effecting factors of oil consumption; engine operating conditions; volatility; evaporative characteristics of single grade oil and multi-grade oil; effect of VI modifiers; diesel engine PM emission composition; test specifications; lubricant oil; API grade on PM emission; API grade on gas emission; and evaporation and VI modifier on PM emission, gas emission, and on smoke.
