abstract = "The relationship of multi-discipline in the thermal protection system (TPS)design process was developedand a design process of TPS has been established. The optimization design of integrated thermal protection system (ITPS) was formulated as a mathematic problem with mass per unit area of the ITPS as the objective function.The heat transfer and thermal stress analysis were carried out with finite element method, and the results show that the design of ITPS could meet the requirement of TPS of space vehicles. The comparison between ITPSdesignand structure/thermal protection independent design scheme showthatITPS is 6.5 kg lighterthan conventional TPSin a 0.8 m2 design zone.",
