摘要

Hypersonic flow interactions for short protuberances installed on standard blunt nose conic configurations were studied, aerodynamic effects were found analogous to lateral jet-interactions for Mach 5 and 9.7 on conic geometries at incidence. Axial pressure distributions were determined using CFD tools; later flow interaction effects of short protuberance geometries were investigated by computing transversal and axial pressure distributions on cylindrical and rectangular cross-sections. It has been concluded that short protuberance on blunted cones causes an increase in net force through altering pressure distribution, with consequent development of useful pitching moments, while similarity in predicted pressure distribution using CFD analysis with an overall prediction accuracy of ±10% was found with the experimental results in hypersonic range. Increase in protuberance height was found effective, also increased pressure with a larger zone of influence was found similar for a square geometry protuberance.
