Characterization and tribological properties of dispersible DNS-Am SiO2 nanoparticles

摘要

The structure of dispersible SiO2 nanoparticles (DNS-Am) prepared by surface modifying in situ was characterized by way of instruments analysis such as TEM, XRD, FTIRM and chemistry analysis. The dispersivity of the DNS-Am with a size of 10-20 nm in various hydrophobic solvents was showed and the properties of the nanopaticles used as friction-reducing and anti-wear additive in lubricant were evaluated using tribotesters. Results indicate that the additive could form organic/inorganic coextruded thin films on rubbing surface of steel, which contributed to apparent improvement on the tribological properties of lubricant.
