abstract = "A method for the design of an integrated forebody-inlet-isolator waverider configuration using osculating analysis is presented. Simulation studies were conducted to investigate forebody-inlet-isolator performance in an airframe-scramjet integrated hypersonic vehicle. Inlet unstart characteristics resulted from variations in geometry and flow-field properties are included in simulation studies. Simulation results indicate that the forebody-inlet and isolators are of simple configuration but they can give higher compression ratio, high total pressure recovery coefficient and lower additional drag. Inlet geometry, forebody boundary-layer thickness and isolator geometry had great influence on isolator performance. Inlet unstart occurred in approximately the same cowl convergence angle.",
