A raid controller using Intel IOP81348 processor

Section 1 of the full paper explains how we design and build its hardware architecture and software architecture, whose block diagrams are shown respectively in Figs. 1 and 2; thus we implement its prototype. What is worth noticing in section 1 is that the architectures adopt an Intel IOP81348 processor integrated with SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) channels and DMA (direct memory access) components and that the prototype is connected to the host with fibre channels. Section 2 tests the performance of the prototype and compares its performance with those of other Raid controllers. The test results, given in Figs. 3 and 4, and their analysis show preliminarily that the data transfer rates of reading performance and writing performance reach 378 MB/s and 293 MB/s respectively, indicating that our controller is better than other RAID controllers.
