A new and better MIMO-OSTBC method for achieving full diversity based on linear receiver

摘要

In order to improve the performance of the orthogonal space-time block code (OSTBC) in an MIMO (multi-input and multi-output) wireless communication system, the majority of the OSTBCs achieve full diversity using the ML(maximum likelihood) decoding at the receiver, but ML decoding is computationally expensive. Section 2 of the full paper designs the new OSTBC-UAC (ultra Alamouti code), which can achieve full diversity with linear receiver. Its core consists of: (1) we construct the UAC expressed as eq. (6) by embedding the Alamouti code into every input information symbol of the OAC (overlapped-Alamouti code); (2) we calculate the coding rate for our UAC by using eq. (12); (3) we give in subsection 2.3 a concise proof for the full diversity gain of our UAC to achieve the full diversity reception. Section 3 simulates our UAC and compares it with the OAC; the simulation results, given in Figs. 1 and 2, and their analysis show preliminarily that the bit error rate (BER) of our UAC is smaller than that of the OAC at high coding rate, thus having a better BER performance than the existing OSTBCs.
