A modeling module for stereolithography based investment casting resin model

摘要

Stereolithography (SL) based investment casting uses the SL rapid prototyping model as the expendable pattern. Hollowed design and lattice structure configurations are used to avoid the crack of the ceramic shell in the burnout procedure of the SL pattern and to maintain certain pattern stiffness. A universal parametric modeling system for SL pattern is constructed based on CATIA secondary development. The system has the functions such as parametric lattice structure configurations design, model cavity filling, discharge hole creating and thermal stress analysis, etc. A typical case is applied and the result indicates that the system can not only to reduce design and development costs and time but also provides qualified SL pattern models which meet the requirements of investment casting.
