Abstract

A 3rd-order intermodulation generator is designed based on a hybrid coupler. Due to the property of hybrid coupler, it is capable of distributing the two-tone incidences evenly for the successive balanced mixing, and simultaneously coupling the 3rd order inter modulation generations for the readout in two highly-isolated channels. Two equal quarter-wavelength shorted stubs at the fundamental frequency are implemented for an enhancement of 3rd-order intermodulation. Both simulation and measurement validate that the presented two-tone excited zero-power 3rd-order inter modulation generator demonstrates a prospect for the highly-isolated wireless sensing applications.
