Abstract

Based on the philosophy of e-manufacturing, a model of e-formalizing the legacy CNC machine tools with e-technology is put forward and studied. Based on Java solution, a Web application server attached to the CNC machine tool is established and used as a portal that integrates a series of application services concerning hardware, manufacturing process and quality control, so that this e-formalized equipment can provide services in due aspects as manufacturing task sequencing and scheduling, dynamic process quality controlling, manufacturing actions visualizing and collaborating. A type of CNC machine tool with the traits of network and I/O transparence is formalized. A case study is given to demonstrate the above ideas.
