Abstract
Conventional design of 3-DOF motion platform is a serial design, in which physical prototype-based design and verification bring about restrictions to the development period and efficiency In order to realize rapidly and efficiently from the conceptual design to prototype design, it was proposed to combine VR with kinematic analysis, structure design and kinetic analysis so as to develop a visual design environment (VDE). In this VDE, some functions could be implemented including mechanical design, virtual assembly, motion visualization and kinetic analysis. And also the analytical kinematic model was derived. Some critical techniques, including XML based information integration, motion visualization, VRML file generation and kinetic model verification, were discussed.
