Abstract

A suspension system based on electro hydraulic actuator (EHA) was presented. A physical prototype composed of the electro-mechanical and hydraulic integrated system on the test bed was built, which was used to test the performances of the suspension system. Based on the physical prototype, the virtual prototype of the test bed for the active suspension system was established using the power bond graphs and the software of ANSYS-ADAMS-SIMULINK. The comparisons between the simulation results of the virtual prototype and the test results of the physical prototype show; the errors of root-mean-squares of displacement and acceleration of the sprung mass are both under 8% and the virtual prototype satisfies the need in the engineering. Meanwhile, by the use of the PID control method, the root-mean-squares of displacement and acceleration of the vehicle body are both decreased by about 30%.
