Abstract
The vibratory stress relief (VSR) of a rolling formed GH4169 alloy ring was carried out. The residual stress measurements were performed on the ring surface using a standard X-ray diffraction before and after VSR. A formulation calculating the elimination ratio of residual stress was proposed. The results indicate that normal components of residual stressesin radial and circumferential directions on the end surface and those in axial direction on inner surface of the ring are relaxed about 10%-20%; however, the normal residual stresse in axial direction on inner surface of the ring isn't weakened.
