Abstract
To control actively transverse vibration of the flexible beam in instantaneous disturbance, the method of variable stiffness vibration control applied axial compressive pulse force was proposed. The principle of vibration suppression was introduced in phase plane. The advantage of the method is that no transverse actuator is required but only an axial impulse force is needed at the end of the beam. Numerical simulation and conceptual experiment were performed. The results have shown that the proposed method is feasible.
