Abstract

Track initiation plays a significant role in targets tracking as determining which measurements of target are. It seems to be a difficult task to detect target from a very noisy background. Targets usually move as straight-line trajectories. So based on the character of the straight line, we find a statistics to illustrate equal difference segments (EDS), and this paper proposes a track initiation method with orthogonal EDS statistics to detect targets in the environment with clutter points. The performances of the method proposed are analyzed theoretically and simulations are designed to verify the analysis. It is proved the track initiation method is better than traditional methods like Rule-Based method, Logic-Based method, Hough Transform technique and modified Hough Transform technique.
