Abstract

A novel aircraft two-stage high-voltage direct current (HVDC) integrated starter-generator (ISG) system and its control methods in different states are proposed in this paper. Firstly, the topology and operation principle of the proposed ISG system are given and analyzed. Then, the control methods for this ISG system in the starting, transition from starting to generation, and generation states are studied, and PWM rectification is used in the generation control to improve the dynamic response performance. Owing to the reduction of the pre-exciter and generation controller and the controllable PWM rectification, the proposed ISG system has the characteristics of higher integration and better generation quality. Simulation results verified the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed two-stage HVDC ISG system.
