Abstract

According to transmission feature of double helical gears, based on tooth contact analysis (TCA) and loaded tooth contact analysis (LTCA), a theoretical calculation method of load sharing for double helical gears was proposed in which manufacturing and assembly errors were considered. In accordance with the measured total cumulative pitch error of left and right tooth surface for pinion and gear, the axial displacement was calculated and compared with the data from experiment. The comparison results show that the method proposed is correct, which set up a firm foundation for dynamics analysis of double helical gears.
