Abstract
The research into and the application of dispersions and colloids as lubricants in China are reviewed. A series of solid lubricants as additives for lubricating oils and the tribological behaviors of dispersions prepared with mineral oil and solid lubricants are introduced. The application of rare earth compounds or complexes as antiwear and extreme-pressure additives for lubricating greases is described, and a series of nanoparticles is discussed as novel lubricating oil additives.
