Abstract

This paper introduces the process of constructing BCM codes firstly. Then it focuses on the two decoding algorithmsmultistage decoding and Viterbi decoding. Finally we compare their performance on the AWGN channel. The simulation result shows that both decoding algorithms achieve coding gain comparing to non-coding QPSK codes and that the BER performance of Viterbi decoding based on soft-decision outperforms multistage decoding.
